Open-air cinema
Open-air cinema on an LED screen — playing before dusk
An inflatable screen has to wait for dark and is afraid of the wind. An LED screen plays from the afternoon: a children's film in daylight, a feature for adults in the evening, ice hockey in between.
- The screening cannot start until 9.30 pm and the children are already asleep.
- Wind sways the projection screen or stops it going up at all.
- A lido or park with no facilities for a projector.
- You want to combine: a live sports broadcast in the afternoon, a film in the evening.

What we arrange for the cinema organiser
- Picture readable by day, full quality after dark, bottom edge up to 6.3 m above heads.
- Film player (no DCP, but standard MP4/MOV formats, yes) and sound for the screen.
- FM transmitter for drive-in — viewers listen in their cars.
- Stands on grass, in a car park or at the lido; needs only 400 V or a generator.
- We advise on the film licence (distributor) and on music collecting societies.

Frequently asked questions
Who arranges the film licence?
Public screening requires a licence from the film distributor; as the organiser that is yours to arrange. We advise whom to contact and supply the technical details for the contract.
How many viewers can the screen serve?
Comfortably 300–800 seated viewers; for a drive-in roughly 60–100 cars depending on the car park layout.
Is it really visible in daylight?
Yes, a brightness of around 5,000 nits is enough for direct sunlight. It is best, though, to turn the screen so the sun is not in the viewers' eyes.
